Anxiety Treatment in Lakewood, CO
Anxiety is a full-body state: a nervous system that has stayed on alert, with the racing heart, tight chest, and broken sleep that come with it. MindMorph treats it through the body as well as the mind, with psychiatric medication when it helps, therapy that retrains both thought patterns and the stress response, and attention to sleep, nutrition, and breathing. Care is by secure video for adults in Colorado and Oregon, and in person in Lakewood, CO from December 1, 2026.
What anxiety disorders are
Everyone feels anxious. An anxiety disorder is anxiety that is out of proportion to the situation, hard to control, and persistent enough to interfere with sleep, work, relationships, or health. It can show up as racing thoughts, chest tightness, irritability, constant "what if" thinking, digestive trouble, or a body that will not come down from alert. The nervous system is doing its job, producing safety, and doing it too well.
The science behind anxiety
Anxiety involves brain chemistry, genetics, trauma, environment, and lifestyle together. Changes in neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, and GABA, along with an overactive amygdala and an under-engaged prefrontal cortex, can keep the body's alarm system switched on. Chronic stress, poor sleep, and nutritional gaps sensitize the loop further. Because there is rarely a single cause, the treatment addresses these layers at once.
Generalized anxiety, panic, and social anxiety: how they differ
| Generalized anxiety disorder | Panic disorder | Social anxiety disorder | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it feels like | Persistent worry about many things, most days, for months; tension, restlessness, trouble sleeping | Sudden surges of intense fear with pounding heart, shortness of breath, dizziness, a sense of doom; then fear of the next one | Intense fear of being judged or embarrassed in social or performance situations; avoidance |
| Timing | Chronic, background, free-floating | Episodic, peaks within minutes | Triggered by specific situations, anticipated for days |
| Typical care here | Medication management, CBT, mindfulness, sleep and nutrition work | CBT with interoceptive work, breathwork, medication when attacks are frequent | CBT with graded exposure, somatic work, medication for performance situations when appropriate |
Other patterns treated at MindMorph include health anxiety, performance and work-related stress, and trauma-related anxiety and hypervigilance, which often sits alongside PTSD.
How MindMorph treats anxiety
Plans are built with you around your symptoms, lifestyle, and goals, and may include:
- Medication management, using pharmacogenomic and lab data to choose medications that fit your neurochemistry, with regular follow-ups to adjust
- Therapy and somatic integration: CBT, mindfulness-based therapy, and trauma-informed approaches that retrain thought patterns and calm the body's stress response
- Mindfulness and breathwork, taught in session, to ground the body and shift out of fight-or-flight
- Nutrition and supplement review, addressing vitamin D, magnesium, omega-3, and other nutrients that affect mood and energy
- Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, an off-label option considered when anxiety has not responded to standard care, paired with somatic work to settle hyperarousal
- Spravato (esketamine), FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression, considered when a depressive disorder overlaps with the anxiety
Results vary by individual, and medication is never the whole plan. Many people with anxiety do well with therapy alone, and that is a legitimate choice here.
What a first visit looks like
A free consultation by video or phone comes first. Then a 90-minute initial evaluation: how the anxiety shows up, when it started, what you have tried, sleep, caffeine, substances, medical history, and what a good outcome would look like for you. You leave with a plan you understand. Follow-ups are every two to four weeks while anything is being adjusted, mostly by video.
How to prepare for the first visit
Note when the anxiety is worst (time of day, situations, after caffeine or alcohol, before sleep), what it does in your body, and what you already do that helps, even a little. List any medications or supplements you take and any you have tried for anxiety, with what happened. If panic attacks are part of it, roughly how often and how long they last. That is enough; the evaluation fills in the rest.
Cost and insurance
Evaluation, medication management, and therapy are in network with a number of Colorado and Oregon plans; the current lists and self-pay rates are on the insurance and payment page. Superbills are provided for out-of-network reimbursement, and coverage cannot be guaranteed.
The MindMorph difference
The care is delivered by one dual-certified psychiatric and family nurse practitioner, which means the person adjusting your medication is the same person who heard your whole story. You are not told to "just relax." You learn how to calm your body before trying to calm your thoughts, because that order works better for most nervous systems. The aim is steady regulation and self-trust rather than a temporary fix.
The plan treats the nervous system as well as the symptom list: lab work, therapy, and mindfulness together, from a trauma-informed clinician who treats care as a partnership. For anxiety that has not responded to standard treatment, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is an off-label option, and Spravato is available when treatment-resistant depression is also present.
Healing is not about silencing the mind; it is about teaching the body that it is safe to rest.
Next step

Overthinking is your nervous system trying to produce safety
Overthinking is the nervous system trying to produce safety: the loop in your head is a protective pattern, not a character flaw. That reframe is the clip's whole thesis, and it matters clinically, because a pattern that is protecting you can be worked with, while a flaw can only be fought.

From Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Emotional numbness is often misunderstood
Numbness is not the absence of feeling; it is protection that outlived its moment. People who feel nothing often assume something is broken. The clip's premise is the opposite: the shutdown was once a reasonable answer to something unbearable, and it never got the message that the danger passed.…

Questions
Generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, health anxiety, performance and work-related stress, and trauma-related anxiety and hypervigilance, in adults. The evaluation sorts out which pattern is present, whether depression or trauma sits alongside it, and what combination of therapy, medication, and nervous-system work fits. Results vary by individual.
When worry or fear is persistent, out of proportion to the situation, hard to control, and interfering with sleep, work, relationships, or health, an evaluation can clarify what is happening and what would help. Everyone feels anxious sometimes; a disorder is anxiety that has stopped switching off. A free consultation is the place to start.
Generalized anxiety is persistent, background worry about many things on most days for months, with tension and poor sleep. Panic disorder is sudden surges of intense fear that peak within minutes, with a pounding heart and shortness of breath, followed by fear of the next attack. Both are treatable, and the therapy approaches differ.
Often, yes. Therapy, breathwork, and nervous-system regulation practices carry real evidence, and medication is one tool rather than the default. MindMorph offers therapy with or without a prescription, so whether medication would help is discussed at the evaluation and the choice remains yours. Plans are reviewed over time, so nothing is fixed.
Prescribing is conservative and individualized. When medication is appropriate, safer long-term strategies come first, and any controlled medication involves a full evaluation, careful monitoring, and a clear plan for how long it is meant to be used. Telehealth prescribing of controlled medications follows current federal rules, in effect through at least the end of 2026.
Yes. Evaluation, medication management, and therapy for anxiety are available by secure video for adults physically located in Colorado or Oregon at the time of the visit, and, from December 1, 2026, in person at the Lakewood, CO office. Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and Spravato sessions are in person only. Care is offered in English and Russian.
