Notes on psychiatry, healing and integration

Plain writing from my practice: what ketamine and Spravato care involve, how to prepare, and the quiet work of integration afterward. The psilocybin pieces first appeared on MycoMuse, my facilitation practice.

The piece of psychedelic wisdom I disagree with

Tricycle Day asked facilitators which bit of common psychedelic wisdom they would argue with. Mine is the one that hands all the credit to the medicine and none to the ordinary Tuesday that follows it.

Masha in Tricycle Day: Nine Fridays of Reader Questions

Masha Steiner-Renoir was quoted in nine consecutive issues of Tricycle Day's Ask a Guide Anything column, July 17 to September 11, 2026. The nine questions, three of her answers, and why a psychiatric prescriber turns up in a facilitators' column.

Asking your family for support before a journey

A reader in Lone Tree asked how to tell her family about an upcoming journey so they would know how to help. What to ask for, what to say about the day after, and a script you can send as it is.

When a journey gets hard

Three of the questions Tricycle Day put to me were about the difficult end of this work: the moment a journey turns, anger that arrives with force, and a memory you cannot verify.

Psilocybin and GLP-1 drugs: the timing question

A reader asked what someone on a GLP-1 medication should know before working with psilocybin. Onset can come late, the day may run long, and the medication conversation belongs with the prescriber.

Mushrooms and San Pedro: two teachers

Tricycle Day asked their licensed facilitators how mushrooms and San Pedro compare. My answer made the August 28 issue; this is the longer version.

Masha in Tricycle Day: Two Medicines, Two Temperaments

The psychedelics newsletter Tricycle Day quoted Masha Steiner-Renoir on how mushrooms compare to San Pedro. Her answer, the two temperaments side by side, and why that sensibility shapes ketamine preparation and integration at a practice that prescribes neither.

Parts Work, IFS, and Somatic Therapy at MindMorph

How parts work in the Internal Family Systems tradition and somatic attention run through therapy, ketamine preparation, and integration at MindMorph, and exactly what my IFS Institute training is.

Psychiatry and Psilocybin, Kept Properly Separate

Maria Steiner-Renoir runs two separate practices: MindMorph, a psychiatric practice that prescribes and bills insurance, and MycoMuse, licensed psilocybin facilitation under Colorado's Natural Medicine program that does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. Why the wall exists and which door to use.

What Happens After the Medicine

Integration as the other half of ketamine or Spravato treatment: capture session material within 24 hours, reflect on it with another person in the first week, then choose one small change, and carry it into the next session.

How to Prepare for Ketamine or Spravato

Practical preparation for a ketamine or Spravato session, from the week before to the morning of: sleep, alcohol, the never-stop-meds-on-your-own rule, confirming a ride, and how to hold an intention.

What to Expect During One Ketamine Therapy Session

A two-hour ketamine-assisted psychotherapy session at the Lakewood office, hour by hour: screening beforehand, check-in, sublingual dosing, what the experience tends to feel like, coming back, and the evening after.

Can you buy psilocybin in Colorado?

Short answer: no, there is no shop. The longer answer is the more useful one, because what Colorado built instead is easy to miss if you are looking for a counter.

Who psilocybin facilitation is not for

Every practice page tells you who it is for. This is the other list, written by someone who says no often enough to have opinions about how to say it.

The week after a psilocybin session

The session ends and everyone stops describing what happens next. The week after has a shape, and knowing it in advance makes it much easier to be in.
