Overthinking is your nervous system trying to produce safety

Overthinking is the nervous system trying to produce safety: the loop in your head is a protective pattern, not a character flaw. That reframe is the clip's whole thesis, and it matters clinically, because a pattern that is protecting you can be worked with, while a flaw can only be fought.

Overthinking is the nervous system trying to produce safety: the loop in your head is a protective pattern, not a character flaw. That reframe is the clip's whole thesis, and it matters clinically, because a pattern that is protecting you can be worked with, while a flaw can only be fought.

The clip is attached to the anxiety disorders and OCD pages, where rumination and intrusive looping are treated as a nervous-system state rather than a worry habit: medication when it helps, therapy including exposure work and mindfulness, breathwork, and attention to sleep and nutrition. My short on symptoms as signals is the companion piece, and this one runs 19 seconds. The practical difference: a protective loop can be thanked and retrained; a flaw only invites more self-attack.
